Ontario’s farmers have created a virtual tour platform to highlight Canadian agriculture called FarmFood360 Degrees, the program is expected to help improve relationships between farming communities and urban centers. The farmers engaging in the new platform are hoping to inform the public about what happens on a day-to-day basis on active farms.
Farmers involved with FarmFood360 Degrees believe there has been a disconnect between urban and rural understandings of how farms operate. The agriculture sector is looking to improve consumers’ understanding of the food process.
The program has had a positive reaction from farmers who are happy to share their farms with the country, the site currently hosts tours of farms in every agricultural sector. Crops, livestock, orchards, dairy, and other specialties are all featured on the site. It is hoped that this project will have a positive impact in developing an understanding of farming in Canada and the importance of the food supply system.
For small farmers interested in participating and those looking to learn more about farming the program can be found at https://www.farmfood360.ca/.
