Are you passionate about teaching agriculture? Do you feel comfortable with sharing what you do in agriculture in a fun and engaging way online? Agriculture in the Classroom Manitoba is looking for over 150 volunteers for Canadian Agriculture Literary Month in March 2022.
Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM) is an engaging experiential opportunity that encourages students in all 10 provinces to learn about and celebrate Canada’s agriculture and food story.
By telling grade 1 to 6 students why you love Canadian agriculture and giving them a glimpse of what you do, you will open their eyes to new knowledge, help them build a strong appreciation for the food they eat, and for the role agriculture plays in their lives.
The CALM 2022 classroom activity will focus on seeds with a new Manitoba Seed Kit including 15 crops from Manitoba. As a CALM volunteer, you will have the opportunity to share your story - whether your job in agriculture involves crops, livestock, nutrition, processing, or finance.
Training will be provided to help put together an engaging 30–60-minute virtual presentation that can be delivered right from the comfort of your home office or workplace. You will pick which virtual platform (Zoom, MS Teams, Skype, Facetime) and date/time works best for you and the teacher.
You can register to volunteer for CALM by creating a volunteer profile here. Registrations are open now until February 4th, 2022. English and French speaking volunteers are needed.
