The Ontario Woodlot Association (OWA) together with their woodlot owner-members, work to restore, manage and advocate for healthy forest ecosystems. Farmers and homesteaders make up a large proportion of the OWA membership.
Programs such as education and advocacy, forest stewardship certification (FSC), carbon offset programs and a forest health network, all acting to inform and connect members. Whether woodlot owners are seeking better market access or sustainability for future generations – there are programs to fit. With so many variables like climate change (greater prevalence of forest fires), disease and pest pressures, a community approach is valuable.
If you are a woodland owner in Ontario, April 25th and 26th is an opportunity to participate in the 30th annual Ontario Woodlot Association conference themed, The Power of Active Management. It is being held in Niagara-on-the-Lake with four plenary speakers, three options for tours and more. Hope to see you there!
