The Ontario Federation of Agriculture, with funding from the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, recently announced that it has partnered with the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus, to offer a Safety and Awareness certificate.
The certificate will be available in January 2021. The purpose of the certificate is to provide farm workers with an overview of how a farming operation works and how to keep safe.
The online course is designed as a refresher course for those who already work in the industry, or as an introduction for those that are new to the agriculture industry.
The online certificate features several different modules on the following subjects:
- An overview of health & safety from a farming perspective
- The safe operation of farm equipment
- An overview of cash crop operations as well as livestock operations
The certificate can be completed at the participant’s own pace but can be completed in one day if desired.
If you hire temporary or part-time staff to work on your farm, it is a great way to ensure safety training has taken place.
