At Seedy Saturdays (and Sundays) you can swap and exchange seeds, get exciting varieties from other seed savers and a bit of background to boot. They often have workshops and information on seed planting and saving, heritage flowers, herbs and their uses, climate friendly ideas and exploration of local food systems.
Seedy Saturday can also be an opportunity to meet vendors and buy seeds from local seed companies.
Many of these seed swops are community based and organized by those who see a need for their community to have low-cost local access to seed. Seedy Saturdays are also a place where seed seekers can learn from one another, exchange ideas and seeds, and purchase seeds and plants.
Sharing information about the social, cultural and culinary aspects of the seed is also an important part of heritage seed saving and swopping at Seedy Saturdays across Canada.
