Interest is growing due to the possible therapeutic effects of psilocybin, one of the key active ingredient in magic mushrooms. It holds promise in the treatment of mental illness.
At present psilocybin is a controlled substance in Canada and the University of Guelph is the first university to be granted a Health Canada license.
