As Small Farmers, we don't necessarily wrap large number of bales, but we we can make conscious choices to use more environmentally friendly products, and we can influence those we do business with.
That is why we were so excited to find Nature’s Net Wrap, the world’s first compostable bale net wrap, tailored specifically for ranchers by ranchers.
Nature's wrap was developed by the Ruuds -- a father and son team who ranch in Vermillion, Alberta.
The innovative product offers a sustainable solution to the traditional plastic net wraps, helping to reduce environmental impact without sacrificing quality or performance. The Ruuds have tested and refined the product for several years.
Nature’s Net Wrap is crafted from biopolymers derived from plant-based renewable resources. By choosing these materials, the product not only supports the environment but also meets the increasing demand for eco-friendly agricultural solutions.
The durability of Nature’s Net Wrap is noteworthy. It is designed to provide optimal performance with the same amount of wraps as traditional wraps—2 1/4 wraps are recommended for hay and 3 1/4 for straw. Bales wrapped with Nature’s Net maintain their integrity and appearance for up to a year, demonstrating that environmental responsibility does not have to compromise the product’s effectiveness.
For ranchers interested in making a sustainable choice, Nature’s Net Wrap is available through Case IH and New Holland Dealerships. This availability makes it easy for ranchers across the country to access this eco-friendly option and integrate it into their daily operations.
Transitioning to Nature’s Net Wrap not only helps ranchers manage their bales more effectively but also contributes to a larger movement of environmental stewardship within the agriculture community. By adopting this compostable net wrap, ranchers take a significant step towards a more sustainable practice, showing that every choice counts in the fight against plastic waste.
It does cost about $1 per bale than traditional wrap, but for those who are concerned about the use of plastic wrap, it is a great alternative.
This represents a shift towards more sustainable agricultural practices and offers a practical solution that ranchers can implement immediately.
