Olds, Alberta - Two of Alberta's leading agriculture applied research institutions are joining together to provide world-class researchers, services, and data to the province's agriculture industry. Lethbridge College and Olds College have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on applied agriculture research that will support both universities, as well as the province's primary farmers, enterprises, and agencies through the agri-food supply chain.
Both colleges have signed on to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to launch the deal, making them the first two colleges in Alberta and among the first in Canada to do so. Both colleges are dedicated to sustainable activities, including the reported SDGs of zero poverty, decent jobs and economic development, manufacturing, innovation, and infrastructure, responsible consumption and production, and collaborations.
Olds College and Lethbridge College will collaborate to define potential collaborative ventures, refer companies to one another based on infrastructure and analysis, and exchange related data and data networks.
Lethbridge and Olds will collaborate to provide an appealing, reliable, and competitive fee system for industry partners, as both colleges have agriculture-based Technology Access Centres that provide industry funding through fee-for-service research activities.
The MOU will be managed by a combined committee of delegates from both organisations for the first three years.
