The Peel Dufferin Plowmen’s Association is proud to announce a special clinic designed to educate and train young enthusiasts in the art of plowing. Scheduled for Sunday, August 11 at 14495 The Gore Road, Caledon.
This event is tailored specifically for junior plowers, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn directly from seasoned experts.
At this clinic, participants will delve into the practical aspects of plowing, gaining firsthand experience that goes beyond theoretical knowledge.
The event is strategically set before the 97th annual Peel Dufferin Plowing Match, allowing these young learners to apply their newly acquired skills in a competitive environment. The International Plowing Match will be held October 1 to 5, 2024, in Lindsay, Ontario.
This approach not only fosters a deeper understanding of agricultural practices but also prepares them for participation in future matches.
Colin French, the President of the Association, highlights the event as a critical part of their initiative to engage more youth in agriculture. "By hosting this clinic, we aim to pass down valuable knowledge and ignite a passion for plowing among the younger generation," he explains.
The association is keen on building a robust community of young plowers who are not only participants but also future leaders in the agricultural sector.
The clinic is open to all interested youths aged ten and above as of January 1, 2024. It promises a comprehensive program that includes hands-on training with various plowing equipment, supplied by the association.
Participants can also bring their own equipment to the clinic. An essential aspect of the day is the inclusion of lunch, provided to all attendees, creating a full-day learning experience.
Plowing Clinic Registration is essential for anyone wishing to participate. The deadline for registration is August 4, 2024.
Should there be any changes due to weather, the clinic will be rescheduled to August 18, 2024, with notifications sent to all registered participants.
This initiative equips young individuals with practical skills and connects them to the longstanding tradition of plowing in their community, ensuring that the legacy of agricultural excellence continues through new generations of plowers.
