Farmers work every day to grow and produce fresh, safe and nutritious food for all Ontarians to enjoy.
Local Food Week is a celebration of the bounty of all the healthy food grown, produced and processed in Ontario.
It is a great opportunity to highlight Ontario’s agriculture and food industry – from freshly harvested fruits and veggies to free-range eggs and farm-raised meat and poultry.
From June 6th to June 12th, share your love for local foods by promoting the more than 200 different products grown and produced by Ontario farmers.
While local food tastes better and is ultimately better for you and the environment, shopping for food locally also helps independent farmers and businesses to grow and out local communities to thrive.
Here are ways to celebrate Local Food Week and to support the local farmers, producers and businesses in your community and beyond:
- Fill your plates with fresh Ontario grown produce

- Learn about local produce – see what’s in season and find recipes
- Get takeout from a Feast On Certified restaurant – certified restaurants that source at least 25% of their food from Ontario farmers and growers
- Visit a local craft brewery, cidery, distillery or meadery. Visit ontariocraftbrewers.com to find a list of Ontario breweries and distilleries
- Visit a local winery for a tour and tasting. Visit winecountryontario.ca for information on Ontario’s wine regions and the best wineries in the province
