Fresh Roots Urban Farm needs your help to grow fresh roots and nurture schoolyard-farm-based programs for kids and youth.
This non-profit organization and registered charity cultivate engaging farms and programs that catalyze healthy eating, ecological stewardship and community celebration.
Fresh Roots is aiming to raise $75,000 for its transformative youth programming, ‘Make It Sow’. The campaign was originally scheduled to end on September 6th, but it only has only reach 35% of its goal.
Luckily, Fresh Roots Urban Farm is extending its fundraising campaign through October 10th, 2022.
Fresh Roots grow food on schoolyards in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland and empowers youth, providing a safe space to get involved in the community, learn about food security and equity, and share about their own identity learning about themselves and others.
Participants gain hands-on experience of running a social enterprise farm, from growing, sharing, and selling healthy food to conceptualizing and delivering educational programming through Fresh Roots farm-based fieldtrip and summer-camp programs.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, why not give thanks and give back with a donation to food literacy and security.
“As people prepare to give thanks for the incredible bounty our province has provided them, we hope this will prompt them to reflect on the importance of food education and local production, and make a generous donation to support Fresh Roots,” says Alexa Pitoulis, Executive Director at Fresh Roots Urban Farm.
