Canada Organic Trade Association (COTA) has announced a significant boost for the organic sector through a new funding initiative.
Over the next three years, COTA will receive up to $1,175,841 from the AgriMarketing Program, part of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
This funding aims to expand COTA’s activities, including hosting and participating in international trade shows, strengthening advocacy, engaging in global forums, providing export assistance, and offering valuable data insights.
These initiatives are designed to place Canadian organic products on the global stage and open new opportunities for businesses within the sector.
COTA’s role in enhancing the competitiveness, innovation, and resilience of Canada’s agriculture is critical.
This financial support will allow them to champion the needs of organic producers and processors, helping them reach new and existing markets more effectively.
Additionally, the association will continue to produce important publications like the 2024 Organic Market Report and the Global Trade Guide, providing members with actionable market intelligence.
The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, expressed his support for COTA's efforts, highlighting the growing demand for local organic products in Canada and globally.
Tia Loftsgard, Executive Director of COTA, emphasized the importance of this funding in promoting Canadian organic products worldwide and supporting the sector's needs.
With this funding, COTA is well-positioned to continue driving the growth and sustainability of the organic sector, ensuring that Canadian products and practices remain at the forefront of the global organic market.
This investment is expected to have a substantial impact across the value chain, benefiting producers, processors, and consumers alike, reinforcing Canada’s position as a leader in organic agriculture.
