In the March-April 2023 issue of Small Farm Canada Jeff Carter presents the second installment of the intensive gardening series, Intensive Gardening II - Suggestions to Fight Foodflation.
Jeff specifically discusses a wide bed management style and what crops lend themselves to it.
Some vegetables will perform quite well under wide bed management. A wide bed style is represented by a typical coffee table sized planting of a variety of crops rather than being seeded to one crop in rows.
Jeff discusses how this technique works in detail, and again specific crops like lettuce, that work especially well with this style like leaf lettuce. Jeff also discusses other bed types as well as timing for continuous production and harvest for crops like lettuce, green and wax beans and peas.
