EarthRenew Inc., a Canadian fertilizer firm committed to regenerative agriculture, is testing the general impact of its products on the soil microbiome of potato farms. EarthRenew, Lethbridge College, and Biome Makers, a soil functioning analytics business based in West Sacramento, California, all collaborated on this project.
Farmers, scientists, and conservationists are focusing on helping to the fight against climate change as floods and droughts grow more prevalent. Healthy soil gives us clean air and water, abundant crops and forests, productive grazing lands, diverse wildlife, and beautiful landscapes.
Low-quality soil, on the other hand, deprives plants and microorganisms of the oxygen they require to thrive. The company ensures greater soil health, a more balanced ecology, and, ultimately, higher food quality by concentrating the fertilizer on the soil's microbiome.
The purpose of this field study is to see how Replenish products affect the microbial community structure and how they affect soil functionality.
The final results of this field experiment, due in late September 2021, will give insight into the fertilizer's favourable influence on the soil microbiome, and might lead to a multi-year demonstration trial with industry leaders across North America.
