Applications are now open for the Farm Credit Canada (FCC) AgriSpirit Fund!
This initiative aims to support and enrich rural communities by awarding a total of $1.5 million to various organizations and communities across Canada. Organizations that are granted the AgriSpirit fund could be awarded up to $25,000 for their project.
Groups eligible for the AgriSpirit fund must be within a community with less than 150,000 people and be a charity, non-profit organization, or First Nations, Metis, or Inuit government/community.
What does an initiative that enriches your rural community look like? This can include projects that support food waste reduction, provide upgrades to community buildings, reduce energy footprints with renovations, create greenhouses and community gardens, and any initiative that supports agriculture and food.
Last year, the FCC AgriSpirit fund supported 85 projects to better communities from coast to coast including:
Purchasing a new fire hose for the Charlie Lake Fire Department.
Creating a solar passive greenhouse to support food literacy in the Red Deere Public School District.
Upgrading the Village of Hodgeville's Community Centre to LED lighting.
Purchasing a new vehicle for Saugeen First Nation to distribute fresh produce across their community.
Installing community gardening boxes within the Municipality of Saint-Elzéar.
And 80 more amazing projects!
