The Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame Association (CAHFA) has extended the nomination deadline for prospective inductees to June 1, 2021, allowing members more time to prepare and submit nominations as a result of COVID-19's ongoing issues.
The Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame Association's aim is to acknowledge and celebrate Canadians who have made significant contributions to the agricultural and food industries, as well as to raise awareness of their achievements among Canadians. The Association is a non-profit organisation managed by a board of 12 directors, three from each of Eastern Canada, Western Canada, Ontario, and at large.
CAHFA inducts individuals who have made significant, long-term contributions to the Canadian agricultural and food industries every year. Inductees are selected based on their professional and voluntary accomplishments to the sector, as well as leadership and vision that has impacted agriculture in Canada and throughout the world. The evaluation committee looks at established leadership, accomplishments, results, benefits, and innovations that have benefited agriculture in Canada or elsewhere.
To be eligible for recognition, Candidates must, first and foremost, have made substantial contributions on a national or international level (not just provincially). Second, candidates must have articulated a strong vision for Canada's agricultural future. Nominators must document this goal, explain accomplishments toward achieving it, and indicate any challenges that were overcome to attain it. Finally, candidates must leave a lasting legacy for Canadian agriculture, with an impact that extends to the broader industry.
If you know a great leader you would like to nominate, especially if they were involved in the small farm community, be sure to nominate them to ensure the Small Farm voice is heard.
