Ryan Barrett, a professional agrologist and member of the Class of 2002, has been honoured a blue and gold award by the Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture.
Barrett received the Young Alumni Achievement Award during a ceremony held on October 14th.
He is the research and agronomy specialist of the Prince Edward Island Potato Board. Barrett coordinates local and national research projects with several different partners as well as conducting on-farm research trials with several PEI potato growers.
It was the second major recognition award for Barrett this year. He was also named winner of the Champions Award by Farm and Food Care PEI this spring.
Barrett communicates how new research, technology and sustainability methods are ensuring a future for agriculture. He also educates and informs consumers about other prominent agricultural industries on PEI including dairy and beef farming.
Barrett holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture and a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph. Heβs spent seven years specializing in publications and communications with Jersey Canada, a national dairy breed association.
