Sniffer dogs in training are being tested for their ability to sniff out COVID-19. Countries that are testing out this ability include France, Finland, Russia, Germany, England, Iran, Australia, Chile. Sniffer service dogs are in use in Canada at present, in surveillance against African Swine Fever (ASF) by the Canadian Border Services Agency.
Early results of the training in the countries listed, are encouraging. Dogs have an impressive ability to sniff out or act as an early warning for the identification of COVID-19 at public places like airports, train stations and sporting events.
