For over 50 years, Clyde Hall of Fillmore, Saskatchewan, has meticulously collected a vast assortment of antique farming tractors. Now, he's decided to part ways with his beloved collection through an online auction.
Hall's passion for these machines stemmed from his father, who instilled a deep appreciation for their craftsmanship and ingenuity.
Hall wasn't driven by monetary value; he was captivated by the quality of these machines. "They were just a particular piece," he explained in a CTV News Interview. "I'd like to have it because I just like the way it worked or the way it was built."
Throughout the years, Hall meticulously restored many pieces himself. Among his 14 prized possessions, he has a special favorite: a 1919 IHC Mogul 10-20 tractor. "This is my favourite," he revealed on CTV. "When I was younger, the bigger ones were my favourite, but now the smaller ones are my favourite." He appreciates its practicality. "It's small and easy to get on and off. Easy to start because they're all hand cranked."
The decision to part ways with his collection wasn't easy. At 83, Hall prioritizes time management.
The online auction offers a chance for others to own a piece of history. Bidding closes on September 13th, with bids ranging from $1,200 for a steam tractor to over $75,000 for a prized 1912 Rumely model.
Hall's beloved IHC Mogul currently sits at $10,000.
