Chatsworth Farm is still buzzing with excitement from Chatsworth Farm Open Farm Days 2024 (Small Farm Canada was a sponsor). “Thank you for your partnership and for believing in the importance of connecting our community with local agriculture,” says Charlotte Wasylik from the farm.
The farm welcomed over 500 visitors on Saturday, August 17th from Calgary to Bonnyville and everywhere in between. Chatsworth Farm introduced new activities including wagon rides, cooking demonstrations, face painting, and an expanded lineup of vendors. These additions enhanced the experience for our guests and we are pleased to share some of those special moments from visitors and vendors below.
"The Wasylik family truly dedicate their lives to their farm, and their passion for their industry and home absolutely shines through at Open Farm Days. There are too many wonderful moments to list, but some highlights for us were of course our toddler’s wonder at each animal he got to see for the first time, the homegrown hot dogs and buns, the meat and eggs we purchased, and took home and ate embarrassingly quickly, and the I Love Alberta Beef bumper sticker that I have been looking for for years - I should have known to ask them all along! We travelled 2 hours one way to attend, and at the end of the day my husband said it best: 'Chatsworth Farm? More like ChatsWORTH the trip!'" concluded Millions.
"As a non-profit that works across the province having spaces and events like this to connect with the folks we serve in rural communities and some of the smaller municipalities is very meaningful to our work and our organization," said Justine Pelletier, Advancement Officer, Alberta SPCA. "Animal enforcement is a large part of our work, but education is equally essential for our mission. Events like Open Farm Days at Chatsworth Farm create an opportunity for all ages to gain a better understanding of what humane treatment of animals and livestock looks like, and we are so grateful we were able to participate!"
"My family and I live in Edmonton and have been lucky enough to be a customer of Chatsworth Farm for a few years," says Monique Hnatiuk from Edmonton. "When the farm shared that they would be participating in Open Farm Days for 2024, we knew we had to plan our visit."
"Chatsworth had a wonderful mix of education, entertainment, food, and fun for all ages. It was very well organized and highlighted just how important events like this are for our community. It was so special to take my young son to learn about where his food comes from. He also really loved seeing all the tractors in person. In addition to all the learning and new connections built, I really liked our watercolor portrait that was made live. I will treasure it forever. We could tell a lot of thought and effort went into planning this event. Thank you for the memories Chatsworth Farm, we will be back next year!"
