Small Farm Canada recently provided a two-year subscription to the magazine as a gift to the Wellesley Township Fall Fair Ambassador winner, Katie Mussleman.
The Fair is organized by the Wellesley North Easthope Agricultural Society, based in Ontario, and took place September 10 to 11. The fair is one of only three fall Fairs left in the region of waterloo which returned to its rural agricultural roots and focused on local food, local farms, and family friendly games for kids.
Fair organizers wanted Small Farm Canada to know how amazing Katie is, and so we thought we would share some of her accomplishments with our Small Farm Readers.
“Our winner, Katie Mussleman is an amazing young woman,” said 1st Vice President Susan Prange. “In addition to running for fair ambassador, she initiated a Junior Ambassador program.”
With Katie’s leadership, seven young people entered the Wellesley Township Fall Fair Junior Ambassador program this year.
Katie works part time, attends college, volunteers with the fair board and was the Junior Citizen of the year recipient.
The Ambassador Winner is an avid member of 4-H Waterloo, and she also helped with three Farm Safety Days organized by the Waterloo Rural Women Organization.
“Agriculture has always been in my life,” explains Katie. “I am a true agriculture advocate.”
She has also been accepted into the Female Firefighters in Training Program for two years in a row, gaining hands on experience with tools, drills, and equipment while learning about firefighting. “I am inspired to be a firefighter,” says Katie.
Congratulations to Katie whose commitment to agriculture and her community is amazing!
