Ontario Senator Rob Black, a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry, has been named the Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s (CPMA) Produce Champion of 2021.
The annual Produce Champion award is given by the CPMA to a Member of Parliament or Senator who has been supportive of the produce sector and effective in bringing industry problems to the forefront on Parliament Hill.
Black worked with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) for 15 years and was executive director of 4-H Ontario for five years. In February 2021, Black was also recognized as one of the Top 50 Most Influential People in Agriculture by Canadian Western Agribition.
Senator Rob Black will be featured in a forthcoming episode of the CPMA podcast Produce Talks, in conversation with CPMA President Ron Lemaire, in recognition of this achievement. The Produce Champion for 2021 will be acknowledged during the CPMA Convention and Trade Show in Montreal in 2022.
