Avail is a new app developed by Saskatoon-based Bridges Health with a goal of creating a culture of well-being. The app, which was the winner of the 2020 Saskatchewan’s Innovation Challenge, allows agricultural producers to track their own mental health as well as their employees’.
Avail estimates that in the workplace, the well-being of approximately 50–70% of the workforce has room to improve, with 15-30% of the workforce considered in an unhealthy mental state.
The app offers four key pillars to enable organizations in agriculture to truly create change and become a culture with an emphasis on well-being.
The first pillar is Measure. The app offers brief weekly mental health and well-being check-ups that detect issues early and directs members towards care resources.
The second pillar is Manage. The app offers 24/7 access to on-demand networks of care professionals and resources.
The third pillar, Learn, refers to the app’s growing toolbox of scientifically validated and self-directed resources to help members deal with challenge and build resilience.
The final pillar, Build Community, encourages friends and family members to utilize Avail to reduce the stigma and awkwardness of well-being conversations.
On Avail’s website, anyone can access their database of articles and videos which are clinically backed and designed to target the management and improvement of mental health and general well-being. These resources can be accessed by following this link: https://avail.app/public/articles
