The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking public and stakeholder input on the Canadian Agricultural Partnership next policy framework.
The Canadian Agricultural Partnership is a 5-year, $1.2M annual funding program designed to help support agriculture in Canada.
The Government of Northwest Territories will host engagements on various platforms until March 31, 2022, in partnership with the Government of Canada. This is a five-year national policy for agricultural funding is currently being developed with agriculture partners. It will ensure continued progress towards achieving the goals and vision of the Northwest Territories Agriculture Strategy.
Northern residents are welcomed to provide feedback through the Department of Industry, Tourism, and Investment. Public input will be collected through an online survey, ideas board and email or phone to contribute into the next policy framework development process, informing agriculture partners on priorities to be considered in the 2023-2028 federal funding policy framework.
“As we continue to explore opportunities and support economic diversification in the NWT, agriculture is emerging as a quickly developing industry with enormous possibilities,” states Caroline Wawzonek, Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Investment.
“The planned engagements are an important exercise to include the voices of NWT stakeholders at a national level to ensure the sector is supported and continues to grow.”
