On Wednesday, November 24th 2021, at 10:00AM EST, the People’s Archive of Rural Ontario (PARO) is launching its website and celebrating rural Ontario experiences, voices and stories through an online virtual event.
The People’s Archive of Rural Ontario is a collaborative virtual project seeking to create a world that builds bridges of understanding between the urban and the rural areas. This will be a widely accessible, ever-growing, online, multimedia repository of diverse stories from across rural Ontario.
The virtual event includes an introduction and virtual tour of PARO. The following lineup are speakers attending The People’s Archive of Rural Ontario event:
- Charlotte Yates, President and Vice Chancellor at University of Guelph
- Senator Rob Black, Chair of PARO Advisory Committee
- Minister Lisa Thompson, Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
- P. Sainath, People’s Archive of Rural India
PARO aims to mobilize and amplify rural voices and stories and to contribute to the revitalization of rural Ontario. PARO is currently engaged in collecting stories, highlighting personal and community narratives to be produced for the archive as text, audio, video, and photography.
