The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food is pleased to announce an investment, under the AgriCompetitiveness Program, of up to $2.1 million.
This investment will support three organizations provide development opportunities and initiatives for Canadian youth in agriculture and strengthen the agriculture and agri-food sector.
Canada 4-H Council (4-H Canada) receives up to $1.8 million
4-H Canada will develop new curriculum and resources that empower youth through leadership programs, aimed at growing their practical knowledge and skills in Canadian agriculture. This will reach an increased number of youths in diverse audiences, advance awareness, food literacy and exciting careers in the agri-food sector.
Canadian Young Farmers’ Forum (CYFF) receives up to $195,168
CYFF will build industry capacity and provide training and education to young farmers across Canada. New initiatives will be created to address specific needs for the reality young farmers are facing today.
Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers (COYF) receives up to $119,724
The funds will support COYF’s seven regional recognition events and its three-day national recognition event. It will be used to increase agricultural awareness and support the continued growth of public trust in the agriculture sector.
