The apparent unwillingness of officials to come to a fair agreement has convinced workers at Canada Post that striking is their only option.
Many small businesses including seed growers and dealers as well as rural Canadians are impacted greatly by the Canada Post strike. Small Farm Canada was interested to see how seed growers and dealers were responding.
The good news is that planting is still months away. The bad news is that the holiday season is one month away.
Seed growers and dealers are employing a variety of ideas to work through the situation – some will resume shipping after the Canada Post strike is over, many are also looking for alternative delivery services and are communicating their response online and on social media.
Most are also supportive of Canada Post and the service they receive at a price point that is often much less than other delivery options. Canada Post may also be the only option in a rural location.
Editor’s note: Some seed stock like dahlia tubers ship early spring – we have time.
