A ball pein hammer is a very cool tool. It’s good to have a selection of these beauties. Small for a tap, medium for some cooperation and heavy for lets, get ugly.
I rarely use the pein end unless I am forming metal but have used it for its designed purpose of peining or rounding a rivet. With its compactness, it is also safer to use than a claw hammer for mechanics.
A variation of this tool is the dead blow which also has a peined end. With a very dense head, it is great for setting bearings. Claw hammers are for carpentry.
