I purchased a couple of table gardens off-season and on sale for starting seed but have found them useful in several scenarios. First, they can be moved quite easily. I have relocated them for kitchen-close gardening for herbs and lettuce. I have moved them to a three-season room for an earlier start. I’ve also moved them to the greenhouse when fall frost threatens and the table garden is still producing.
Another set of benefits relates to the relatively large amount of soil contained in a table garden. Due to the large volume, they don’t dry out as quickly with lots of space for root growth.
