Filters and screens can be helpful tools for drying seed for saving.
Last week we described using mason jars to help in the wet-seed saving process. After wet seeds like cucumber or tomato have separated from the pulp in the mason jars, the next step in the process is to dry the pulp separated seed using a coffee filter.
Lay seed out on the coffee filters on a tray or old window screen (shown) in a well ventilated and protected place.
The coffee filter will help absorb any remaining moisture from the pulp separation process. Once dry seed can be stored.
Next week we will discuss a useful cool tool for seed storage.
